Letter From Campaign Co-chairs

The phone is ringing more often at United Way’s 2-1-1 Information and Referral line. More callers have questions about where to find financial assistance for basic needs like utility bills and groceries. More than anything, United Way operators want to assure people in financial crisis that help is available.  We want to make sure they can continue to offer that promise.

We each have a stake in the health and welfare of greater Stark County. In these financially stressed times, we need the few who have the capacity to step up and lead our community.

Your generous donation will likely make the difference in whether the gap in allocations for United Way programming will be met. The dollars allocated to service providers for programming in Education, Family & Financial Stability and Health & Basic Needs are at risk. We are reaching out to you as someone who cares about the future of our community.

This current financial crisis means that everyone has difficult decisions to make. You may be asking yourself “What can I do about my investments? Should we plan to take that trip this Spring?”

Others have more extreme decisions to make and ask themselves, “Where will I sleep tonight? Should I put gas in my car or groceries in my cupboard?” These people don’t like the idea of asking for help. But when they do, United Way must be ready to give temporary assistance.

We need you to make the difference between someone having groceries this week or not.  You can be assured your generous donation to United Way, pooled with other gifts, will do more than any single person or organization on their own. We hope we can count on you to support to the annual United Way campaign.

If you have never given before, please consider giving at the $120 Caring Club donor level. As a thank you, you will be eligible for discounts from local merchants like restaurants, dry cleaners and more. Click here to find out more. For those of you who are current donors, we extend our deepest gratitude and encourage you to consider increasing your donations in this financially difficult time.

A sincere thank you in the spirit of United Way’s mission to LIVE UNITED, because together, united, we can inspire hope and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

Warmest regards,
