Community Impact

United Way of Greater Stark County seeks to improve lives in measurable and lasting ways by mobilizing thousands of people around a common goal: advancing the common good by focusing on education, income and health. United Way believes these are the building blocks for a good life and that a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, a safe place to live and good health.

United Way of Greater Stark County focuses its attention on the root causes of these issues through their focus on programs that target Early Education & Care, Graduation & Training and Family Stability.

This is how we LIVE UNITED.

United Way is dedicated to looking at the community as a whole and determining where resources could be best used to help make an impact.

Through our Impact Council process, data is evaluated and studied to determine the greatest areas of need.

  • Early Education & Care: Children ages 0-8 enrolled in affordable, quality early care and education programs who are from families at 300% or less of poverty
  • Graduation & Training Beyond High School: Youth obtain high school diploma or equivalent and continue post secondary education or training
  • Reduction in Risky Behavior: Reduction in youth risky behavior with focus on: Alcohol, drug, tobacco use, STDs & pregnancy, and Obesity
  • Economic Independence: Greater Stark County residents acquire and sustain employment paying a housing wage
  • Family Stability: Reduction in families and households experiencing domestic violence, abuse and neglect
  • Emergency & Disaster Services: Individuals basic needs for food, shelter and clothing during crisis situations are met through temporary assistance
  • Seniors & Disabled: Individuals with disabilities and seniors maximize their ability to live in a safe environment with independence and dignity
  • Access to Healthcare: Individuals and families have ongoing primary medical, dental, vision and mental health care

United Way will continue to fund core programs needed in our community.

The Impact Council process enables us to fund programs that meet basic needs for a healthy community such as child care, senior programming and emergency assistance. It will also provide us new ways to partner with our donors, service providers and others to develop strategies to get to the root problems of complex social issues.

At United Way of Greater Stark County, we bring together people from across the community to tackle these complex issues and invite you to join with us in these efforts to advance the common good.
