Day of Caring is a community-wide day of hands-on volunteering in which United Way connects volunteers—businesses, corporations, union groups, donors and others with local nonprofit organizations and service providers to work on various service projects. Health and human service needs are on the rise. This year, more than ever, your volunteers are needed.

The Day of Caring shows how volunteerism is vital to the well being of our community.  It empowers people to work together to address some of the urgent needs facing our community.  The event provides a firsthand look at the services offered by community service providers. Nearly 890 volunteers participated in 2009.

Day of Caring is a great opportunity to create team spirit and company morale while you showcase your organization’s commitment to give back to the community.

Here's what service providers said in 2009:

“Wow!  Our boardroom looks great!!  Thank you so much for allowing Timken volunteers to come to our building to work.  The seniors had a great time too!!  We appreciate every year being a part of this wonderful program.  You cannot imagine how much it helps.”

-Susan M. Hinzman, Major, Salvation Army of Canton Day-of-Caring-Timken-40.gif

“The entire day last Thursday was awesome.  The volunteers from Aultman Hospital and Union Metal were probably the best ever.  They got so many big painting and cleaning jobs done for us.  We would welcome them back next year, if they want to come.  They were great!! Thank you so much for coordinating this incredible opportunity benefiting the agency.  We totally appreciate it!!”

-Carolyn Tillett, Domestic Violence Project, Inc.

“It was awesome. We had 91 volunteers and everyone showed up and had a great time.”
